Dr. Brooks is an internationally known expert in occupational respiratory diseases with more than 40 years of experience. He is Board Certified in occupational medicine, pulmonary diseases and internal medicine. For the past five years, he has been listed in The Best Doctors in America.
He has also been listed in Tampa Bay Metro Best Doctors and America’s Top Doctors. He has published more than 150 articles in scientific journals and his research is readily quoted throughout the world. He was the first to describe the Reactive Airways Dysfunction Syndrome (RADS), the sudden onset asthma condition that follows a high level irritant gas, vapor or fume exposure. Dr. Brooks also has special expertise in the inhalation injuries, toxic respiratory exposures, health effects of indoor mold, allergic pulmonary diseases, workplace asthma and respiratory toxicology.
Dr. Brooks graduated with a BS in 1958 and MD in 1962 (from University of Cincinnati). He trained 2 years in internal medicine (1963-64, 1966-67) and then 2 years in Pulmonary Disease (1967-1969) at Tuft's Service, Boston City Hospital in Boston Massachusetts. Dr. Brooks spent 2 years in the Army during the Vietnam era. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Occupational Medicine.
